William "Joe" Moran

MORAN, WILLIAM JOSEPH "JOE"
William Joseph “Joe” Moran, 80, of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Centre on Monday, February 1, 2016. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late William Moran and Margaret (McGrath) (Moran) Cassidy.
Joe started his career at the Saint John Shipbuilding & Drydock as a draftsman. He moved to Moncton to work for the Federal Government in the Department of Transportation, retiring in 1994 with the position of Supervisor of Outside Plant and the Drafting Office. Joe enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He volunteered with the RCMP, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Ray of Hope Needy Kitchen, Kidney Foundation, was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and sat on the Board for the Public Service Credit Union and Co-Op Atlantic.
Joe will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Josephine (McDougall) Moran; daughters, Cathy Moran Robinson of Rothesay, Rose Finbow of Oshawa, ON and Andrea Creagh (Bill) of Moncton; grandchildren, Laura Robinson, Emily and Anne Finbow, Thomas, Kathleen and Joseph Creagh; two half- brothers, Daniel Cassidy (Michelle) of Sudbury, ON and Harold Cassidy of Saint John; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Tom Moran.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Parish Prayers and Sharing of Memories for Joe at 8:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 52 Falkland St., Moncton on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Charles Broderick presiding. Reception in the Church Hall following the Mass. Interment, St. Brendans Parish Cemetery, Dipper Harbour, NB, in the spring.
Special thanks to the staff of the George Dumont Hospital in the Transplant Clinic, Nephrology, Oncology and Palliative Care units for their care and compassion shown to Joe as he moved through his life journey.
In memory of Joe, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
