Cecil Vernon Brown

It is with great sadness that the family of Cecil Vernon Brown announce his peaceful passing at home on January 31, 2016.
Born in Springhill on February 3, 1935, second son of the late Vernon E. and Leone S. (Jones) Brown-Dickinson, he lived his entire life in Mapleton where he earned the distinction of the unofficial 'Mayor of Mapleton'.
He met the love of his life, Carol E.M. Forshner, R.N., and they had a truly joyful marriage of fifty-five years. Besides his wife, he is survived by sons Allan (Cathy), Edmonton, Stuart (Elizabeth), Calgary; grandchildren, Brad (Maggie), Beijing; Ashley and Morgan, Calgary; great granddaughter, Abigail, Calgary; sister, Gloria (Harold) Langille, South Brook; brother, Gary (Janice), Portapique; very special Aunt, Carrie Brown, Amherst; step-brother, David Dickinson; step-sisters, Emily, Elizabeth, Anne, and Sybil, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was predeceased by his brother, Harvey.
Cecil was the owner and operator of Brown's Bus Line, safely serving the Springhill School systems for thirty-six years with an accident-free record. He was Elder of Southampton United Church, Treasurer of the Mapleton Cemetery Company, and a former member of the Knights of Pythias, #54, Southampton. His garden was the envy of all who saw it and many visitors enjoyed a gift of the bounty of his harvest.
