It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our loving son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Greg Tracey, 52 years of age, of Glace Bay, on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016.
Greg is survived by his mother, Trudy; his children, Katie and Cassie and two grandsons, Cooper and Benny. Also surviving are brothers, Eddy, Robert, Kenny (Lezlee), David (Dale), Earl (Kim), Eric (Carol-Ann), Trevor and Bunny (Colleen); sisters, Peggy (Chuck), Debbie (Joe), Jeannie, Linda (Darren), Colleen (Brad) and special nephew, Darren. Greg also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
Greg served 10 years with the Canadian Armed Forces as a communication officer. After leaving the forces, he resided and worked in New Brunswick for several years. Greg returned to Cape Breton where he received his construction safety training. At the time of his death, Greg was employed in Edmonton, Alta. with the oil industry as a construction safety officer.
Greg was known for his delightful charm, great sense of humour, and willingness to lend a helping hand, especially to his friends at the Reserve Seniors Complex. Greg will be remembered by all who knew him as a loving father, great friend and an all around good guy.
Greg was predeceased by his father Thomas 'Jigger'; sister, Sandy and, in infancy, sister, Sharon, as well as paternal grandparents, Joe and Margaret Tracey and maternal grandparents Joe and Marie Wilson.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church at 11 a.m., Bridgeport, Glace Bay with Fr. Boudreau officiating. Following the service, a reception will follow in the church hall.
