Born in St. Anthony on April 18, 1938 to William and Maude Elliott, Wilbert Wallace Elliott of Raleigh passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2016. He married Juanita Taylor on December 3rd, 1960 and together they raised four children: Diane, Peggy, Jackie, and Danny. Wilbert was a hard working fisherman. When he retired, he took to gardening, as well as playing and singing. His music was a great pastime. He also loved berry picking and cutting wood. He leaves to mourn his wife Juanita; children Dianne (Alonzo), Peggy, Jackie (Marshall), and Danny (Ursula); grandchildren Ryan, Robbie, Adam, Melissa, Michelle, and Dylan; great-grandchildren Tyler and Paige as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Chesley, Ross, Kenneth, Ernest, and his sisters Phyllis, and Hazel. Visitation was held at the United Church in Raleigh from where the funeral took place on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the United Cemetery in Raleigh. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
