Casilda Arsenault

ARSENAULT, CASILDA (GUS)
The death of Casilda (Gus) Arsenault of Jacquet River occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the age of 61 surrounded by family. Born in Jacquet River, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Regina (Roy) Arsenault.
Casilda is survived by her brothers Francis (Norma) of Jacquet River and Rev. Father Richard of Winnipeg; sisters Elmira Rideout (Harold) of Rockland, ON. and Mary Lee Joudry of Windsor, ON as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Louis.
A woman of great faith, she left this world shortly after receiving her Lenten Ashes. Casilda was a fighter who made the best of what life dealt her. At an early age, she was diagnosed with the neurological disease Friedreich's Ataxia. Despite this, after graduating high school, she studied in Cornwall ON. and became a medical secretary. She then moved to Fredericton where she worked in her profession for a few years until her disease caused her to stop. But Casilda continued for over twenty years volunteering with different organizations in the Fredericton area. In 2005 she decided to return to Jacquet River to be closer to her family. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with cancer which she fought with the same zeal and vigor. Casilda's biggest gift and achievement in life was her ability to have so many true life long friends which really came to the forefront during her last years when many of her friends travelled thousands of miles to visit her.
The Arsenault family would also like to express their profound appreciation and thanks to Rose's Special Care Home.Rose and her staff made Casilda's last year on this earth one of her best. We will be forever grateful.
Her funeral will be held from St.Gabriel's Church, Jacquet River, Monday, February 15 at 11 am with visitation at St. Gabriel's Funeral Parlour Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in the evening. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillans Funeral Home, Black Point. www.macmillansfuneralhome.ca
