ZWICKER, HAZEL SYLVIA
(1931-2016)
Mrs. Hazel S. Zwicker formerly of Grand Manan Island, NB passed away on February 14, 2016 at The Grand Manan Hospital. She was born in Grand Harbour, Grand Manan Island, NB the daughter of the late Sheldon and Sadie (Small) Green. Hazel’s house was always a place to gather, everyone was welcome, children warming up in the porch waiting for the school bus, missionaries or special speakers from Church, strangers that needed a meal or a place to stay and especially friends and family. She was gifted in hand craft and music. Hazel and her late husband Allan ran The Cross Tree B&B for 20 years until her retirement when she was 70, in 2000. She will be missed by all that knew her, especially her family. She is survived by three daughters; Kathy James (Ron), Darlene Jenkins (John) both of Riverview, Deborah Tompkins of Fredericton. One son Rod Zwicker of Saint John. Three sisters; Mollie Shelton of St. George, Jeanne Ingalls of Grand Manan, Dorothy Perron (Joe) of Hammonds Plans, NS. Three half-sisters; Natalie Forsythe of Chester Basin, NS, Bonnie Cook (Carmen) of Big Cove, and Trudy Morse (Neil) of Grand Manan. Eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Charles Allan Zwicker, one sister Marilyn Frost; one brother Erling Green and one half-brother Jack Green.
Visiting will take place on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at The Community Life Church where the Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday , February 17, 2016 at 1:00pm with Rev. Karl Ingersoll officiating. Interment will take place at Hill Side Cemetery later in the spring. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Hazel.
