Arnold E. Francis, 81, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of the late Marion (Parker) Francis, passed away suddenly, February 11, 2016. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, Canada, son of the late Elmer and Mildred (MacWilliams) Francis, he was raised there before moving to Windsor and then Windsor Locks 17 years ago. He was a self taught master mechanic specializing in HVAC. He was first employed by Davis & Daggett in Hartford then founded the former Phoenix Oil Co, in Windsor. After retirement, he operated Francis Mechanical to be of help to his loyal customers. Arnold was known for his honest and ethical treatment of his customers. He blessed everyone he met with a wonderful smile, a warm heart, and was able to fix anything mechanical. He played ice hockey as a young man and enjoyed watching games. He was an avid reader, a history buff, and enjoyed photography. Most of all, he was devoted to his family; caring so lovingly, for his late wife for several years before her death three years ago. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Windsor. He leaves three daughters B. Sharon LaFrancis and her husband Michael of Windsor, Robin Francis Bates and her partner John Evans of Bloomfield; and Sheila R. Francis of Windsor Locks; his two wonderful grandsons Michael R. and Jeffrey J. LaFrancis; a brother Winston Francis in FL; and nephews Mark and Jody Francis. Besides his wife Marion, he was predeceased by a sister Sheila and a brother Darryl. His family will receive friends Wednesday, February 17, 2016, from 5-8 pm at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 18, 2016, 10 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 180 Park Avenue, Windsor. The Rev. John R. Gerlach, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Windsor Locks. Contributions may be made to either the American Red Cross or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
