It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ron Harding on February 13, 2016. He passed peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. Ron was born February 23, 1927 at the family farm, he was the last surviving child of 12 born to Fred and Rose Harding. He was predeceased by a daughter Corinne (1973), his parents, three infant siblings, brothers Earl, John, Morris, and Dennis; four sisters Marj Mehain, Rita Matheson, Ella Shumay, and Elsie Hoskins; brothers-in-law Jack Hoskins, Jack Mehain, Duncan Matheson, Steve Shumay, and George Mattson; mother and father-in-law Frank and Zola Layman. Dad leaves behind and will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 63 years Millie; daughters, Bonnie (Rick) Taylor, and Rhonda (Brian) Walz; son Earl (Cherry) Harding; grandchildren, Tasha Taylor, and Crystal (Blaine) Perry; great-grandchildren, Caiden, Tayla, and Zach; brother-in-law Leroy (Melva) Layman; sisters-in-law Lois Harding, Ruth Mattson, Evelyn Harding, and Rollie Free; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. Ron grew up on the family farm near Melaval. He did custom combining in the U.S., worked in a gold mine in Kirkland Lake, ON before starting his carpentry career in Moose Jaw, eventually working as a foreman for Inland (Cardinal) Construction. Dad was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping with his family and friends. He also enjoyed outings at the goose camp with hunting buddy Tom (Barb) Motta. He created a strong and special bond with his son Earl and nephew Doug during numerous fishing trips. Dad also enjoyed the comradery of many lifelong friends. The family would like to offer their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Braun, the Homecare team, Prairie Heart Mobility and Relay Courier. At Ron’s request there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
