We regret to announce the passing of Lola Tweddle, age 86, on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at her home in Bridgewater.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Colin and Laura (MacIntyre) MacPhail. Lolly grew up in South Bar as the only daughter in a family of eight.
Lolly’s mother passed when she was just a little girl. Lolly loved her father and her brothers dearly. Following her graduation from Sydney Academy she worked at Alteen’s Jewellers in Sydney before moving to Ontario.
She was a member of Trinity United Church in Whitney Pier and Bridgewater United Church.
Lolly is survived by her loving husband, Gerry; son, Grant, Belleville, Ont.; daughters, Melanie (Irene), Blandford, N.S., Janice, Edmonton, Alta. and Valerie, USA; brothers, Stan (Jennie), Sydney, N.S. and Walter (Marcella) Sydney River, N.S., numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Grant Jr., Jennifer, Steven, Scot and Jacqueline and her four great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Atticus, Emil and Ivy. She is also survived by her four stepdaughters, Susan, Heather and Nancy of Edmonton and Linda in Calgary and their families.
Besides her parents, Lolly was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Robert, Dempsey, Sidney 'Brud', and Lloyd.
Lola’s family is grateful that her wish to remain at home was made possible by loving family members, palliative care, Dr. T. Riding, VON, and the Lunenburg Home Support Co. Services.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sydney.
