NEW GLASGOW - William Donald John MacDonald, age 94, of the Glen Haven Manor, formerly of Almont Ave., New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 in the Manor.
Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Daniel and Sadie (MacPhail) MacDonald. He was employed with the Cape Breton Post Circulation Dept.; Manager, Dunn and Bradstreet; Manager, Traders Finance; Manager, Nova Scotia Trust and owned and operated W.D.J. MacDonald Agencies.
He was a member of Trinity United Church where he served as an Elder, Clerk of Session for 21 years, Superintendent of Sunday School and was a representative on the Council of Churches and Pictou County Fuel Fund.
He is survived by a son, Glenn, New Glasgow.
He was predeceased by his wife Thelma Mildred (Taylor); sisters: Elizabeth Evans and Catherine MacDonald; brothers: Angus and Norman MacDonald. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Church, with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, at a later date.
