MacNaughton, R. Murray
1930-2016
Miramichi – Robert Murray MacNaughton, husband of the late Isabel MacNaughton, of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home and formerly of the North Napan Road, passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the age of 85.
Born in Little Branch, Black River Bridge, on November 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Ian and Bertha (MacDonald) MacNaughton. He was a retired employee of Texaco Canada Ltd.; a member of Carmel United Church, Napan; a member of Carmel church Board of Stewards; Secretary for the congregation of Carmel United Church.
Following his retirement from Texaco Canada, Murray volunteered his time with the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home as a bus driver for thirty years. He received the Volunteer of the Year Award, presented by the New Brunswick Nursing Home Assoc.; a recipient of the Chatham Rotary Volunteer award; a member of the Highland Society of N.B., in Miramichi; a member of the ATV Runners Assoc.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Anne Lowe (John) of Lethbridge, AB; one brother, Vance MacNaughton, of Orleans, Ont.; three grandchildren, Stewart, Ross, Alison; four great grandchildren, Makila, Izabella, Ana, Emmett. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Isabel MacKnight, in 2012.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Friday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Carmel United Church on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. David Cleveland. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring.
