MacPHEE, SYLVIA MARY
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia MacPhee on March 11, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Fredericton on April 18, 1938.
Sylvia was predeceased by her mother Clara Brooks and guardian Matilda Sappier, her late husband Hubert Lambert Paul Sr., her second late husband Gerard MacPhee, sister Annette Sacobie, son Dennis Joseph Paul Sr. and grand-son Braxton Paul.
She is survived by her brother Carl Sacobie, her children; Hubert Paul Jr. (Maxine), Charlene Paul, Neil Paul (Tara), Annette Paul (Kim), Donald Paul (Gabrielle), Clarissa Bellegarde (Garry), Corey Paul (Oona). Sylvia was also survived by her 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, several god children and special friend/neighbor Betty McCoy and her favourite pooch Zaney boy.
She was employed at Victoria Public Hospital and Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for a combined 20 years as a nursing aid and worked in SPD.
Sylvia was one of the founding members of the Saint Mary’s Community Bingo and continued to work at the Saint Mary’s Entertainment Centre until she retired at the age of 65.
She was a member of the Saint Mary’s Seniors Club which travelled annually to Sainte-Anne de Beaupré for over 30 years.
Her favorite place to visit was St. Peters and Bible Hill, NS, where she spent time with her two special grand-sons Hayden and Jasper.
She loved to knit for her family and friends and would donate articles to the cancer unit at the DECRH and various service organizations. She would spend many evenings watching television while knitting and never missing a stitch. Sylvia was an avid bingo player and loved to dance at the Fredericton Legion on Saturday night.
The family of Sylvia MacPhee would like to express a special appreciation to the members of the I.C.U. at the DECRH: Dr. M. Martin, Dr. P.Bryden, Heather Hannon, Alice (in Wonderland) Blackmore, Bonnie Sweeny, Ellen Seymour, Turley Berto and Father Aaron Knox for service Prayers of Last Rites.
The wake will be at 130 Paul Street, on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. An evening prayer service will held at 7:00 pm on that date with Father Monte Peters officiating. A burial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
