CROUSE, HUGH HATFIELD "BUDDY"
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday March 14, 2016, Hugh Hatfield "Buddy" Crouse passed away at the age of 91. Born in Zealand, NB, he was a son of the late Hayward and Ruby (Morehouse) Crouse.
Buddy was a retired teacher who started by teaching on a local license in 1943. These licenses were granted during WW II because of a shortage of teachers. After that, he returned to school to finish his education, then went to Teacher's College for 6 months in 1949. After completion of his training, Buddy taught at Staples Settlement, Birdton, NB; Pugh's Crossing; Fernmount; Alan School; Nashwaaksis; then on to Devon Jr. High and South Devon, where he taught for 32 years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Zealand and sang in the choir. He also was a member of Robins Seniors Group. Buddy loved home movies, trains, local and family history.
He is survived by one brother Minot Crouse (Isabel) of Hamilton, ON; a sister-in-law Paula Crouse of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a brother Lebaron Crouse; two sisters Mona Bird and Carol Mountain.
At his request, no visitation or funeral service at this time. A graveside interment service will take place at a later date. Contributions to the NB SPCA or the Fredericton Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
