NEILL, MILLARD THOMAS "TOM"
It is with great sadness the family of Millard Thomas "Tom" Neill announce his passing on March 12, 2016 at his home with his loving wife Audrey by his side.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Audrey Neill, of Saint John, daughter Margret (Adam) Kennedy and son Eric (Alexandra) Neill also both from Saint John. Grandsons Addison, Curtis, Benjamin and Jacob. Survived by his sisters Jane Hollier of Kitchener, Ontario and Nancy Giem of Red Deer, Alberta. Born in London, Ontario he was the son of Millard Lincoln and Margaret Eleanor (Vallance) Neill
Tom graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and remained close with many classmates from class of 5T3. He was a very proud Engineer and contributed leadership to Price Newfoundland (Resident Mill Manager) and Abitibi Price (Vice-President Research & Development) . Tom invented a technique for pulp and paper processing still in use by the Industry. He mentored many young people to ask questions think analytically.
Tom was passionate about and active on a number of Boards and Committees: University of Toronto, Boy Scouts of Canada (President of Operations for a term), Trees Canada and others.
A deep love for people and a very generous man Tom was known for his hospitality and warm spirit. His passion for sailing and experiences in Newfoundland on the Bay of Exploits were lasting memories for his family and friends. He loved Atlantic Canada.
Building his retirement house on the Bay of Fundy was a dream come true and they enjoyed every day watching the waves and ships.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, Saint John, NB (506-634-1701). It was his request to have a celebration of life party rather than a funeral. A reception for family and friends will be held at a later date.
Donations in Tom’s Memory can be made to Scouts Canada or Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
