Wilfred Isaac Roberts was born in Hampden to Charles and Bertha (Elms). His parents moved to Quirpon within a year of his birth. When Wilfred was young, his mother died and he went to live with his older cousin Esther and her husband Charles Rice who raised him. On December 21, 1951 he married Evelyn Taylor of Raleigh. They made their home in Quirpon raising their six children. In 1972 they moved to St. Anthony as he worked with the Department of Highways. After retirement they enjoyed time with their family, their cabins and gardens and attending the St. Anthony United Church. On the morning of the 25th of February, 2016, Wilfred passed peacefully away. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn; children Marie (Ralph), Cecil (Jessie), Stafford (Patricia), Wavey (Dean), Keith (Marie), and Kevin (Debbie); 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother George, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony after which the funeral service took place at St. Anthony United Church at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, the 28th of February with Rev. Dinesh Gomes and Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Burial followed in the Community Cemetery in Quirpon. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
