1947 - 2016
Scoudouc, NB - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Louis Melanson from Scoudouc, a loving husband, father and grandfather.  Louis passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the age of 68, after a lengthy illness.
Louis will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love of gardening and as a Master "Acadian Poutine" maker.  He worked at Marven's (Moncton), Consumer Glass (Scoudouc), Villa Du Repos (Shédiac), Juste Poutine (Dieppe) and as the caretaker for the parish of St-Jacques-le-Majeur (Scoudouc).  Louis enjoyed bowling, playing golf or pool and being surrounded by his family, friends, relatives as well as his pet cats and dogs.  He was also a volunteer at le Club d'âge d'or in Scoudouc.
Louis was the son of the late Édouard Melanson and Annie Melanson of Scoudouc.  He is survived by his wife, Rosella (LeBlanc) Melanson of Scoudouc; his three children, Denis Robert (Tracey) of Tilbury, ON, Janice Coates (Garry) of Scoudouc and Annette D'Amour (Denis) of Moncton; his five grandchildren, Sophie D'Amour of Fredericton, Amy Coates of Halifax, Taylor and Holly Ann Robert of Tilbury, ON and Devan Prianti of Moncton; his two sisters, Aldéa Léger (Léo) of Shédiac and Sylvia Belliveau (Roméo) of Scoudouc; one brother, Claude Melanson (Doris) of Pré-d'en-Haut. 
His family wants to express its gratitude to the staff of the fifth floor at the Moncton Hospital for the compassionate care they gave Louis in his final days.
As per his wishes, there will be no visitation.  The funeral service will be held at the St-Jacques-le-Majeur Roman Catholic Church in Scoudouc on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 10:30 am. A reception will follow at the Club d’âge d’or. 
In lieu of flowers, donation to the parish or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
