Hazel Margaret (nee Carruthers) Beebe

WEATHERBEE, Leland Ronald – 83, Truro Heights. We are sad to announce the passing of our Dad and Grandfather, Leland Weatherbee, on Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016, at Elk Court, Brookfield. Born in Truro, he was the eldest son of the late Homer and Ada (Dartt) Weatherbee. Dad worked as a carpenter, working for his Uncle Russell and then on his own; his grandchildren will always treasure the little wheelbarrows and sleds he made for them. He loved to fish and enjoyed tending his garden. Leland is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughters, Nancy (Colin) Murphy, Truro, and their children, Jennifer (David) Whitten, Jessica, Jeffrey (Sue); Kathy (Carl) Jobin, Lower Sackville, and their children, Joshua (Catherine), Miriam, Charles; Lori (Derek) Mostert, Shubenacadie, and their children, Hendrick, Luke, Heidi, Breanna; great grandchildren, Leah, Christopher, Scarlett; sister, Beatrice Hingley, Bible Hill; brothers, Ross (Linda), Raymond (Mary), Truro Heights; sisters-in-law, Marie Weatherbee, Lillian Weatherbee, Truro Heights; brothers-in-law, Donald Harvey, Brookfield; Harry Johnson, East Mountain; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Zelda Harvey, Eva Johnson; brothers, Ivan, Cecil; brother-in-law, Gary Hingley. Special thanks are extended to the dedicated and caring staff at Elk Court. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Leland’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016. Interment will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Truro Heights United Baptist Church Cemetery, Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Leland’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
