Borthwick, Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann (Boyd) Borthwick of Pennfield NB passed peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on March 18, 2016 after a courageous battle with Cancer and COPD. Born in Saint John NB on April 19, 1942 she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Marion "Ruby" (Campbell) Boyd. Ruth is loving remembered and survived by her children: Billy Borthwick (Gwen) of St. Stephen NB and Sue Borthwick (Brian Guptill) of Grand Manan NB; granddaughter: Robyn Guptill also of Grand Manan NB; three sisters: Ella Cooke (Ken) of Ontario, Linda Boyd of Saint John NB and Kaye Richard (Ivan) of Pennfield NB; her fur baby: Charlie; special extended family: Donnie Leavitt (Una), Geri Myers (Kevin) and their son Kyle and Kevin Leavitt all of Nova Scotia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her first husband: Robert Borthwick; and by her life partner: Eugene Leavitt.
Ruth spent her life in Pennfield working as a devoted waitress and cook for local restaurants including Al's Red Lantern and McKay's Restaurant. She devoted her life to her children and family and treasured every moment she spent with them. She was an avid country music fan with a great passion for Elvis and Alan Jackson. Ruth loved hockey and never missed watching a game when she had the chance. She also enjoyed TV Bingo, puzzles, her favourite TV shows and the Country Jamboree. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The service will take place from the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating. The interment will be held in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery at a later date. In Ruth's memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or to Charlotte County Dial-A-Ride would be greatly appreciated by the family.
