Sheldon Cook

COOK, SHELDON
Mr. Sheldon K. Cook, of Deep Cove Grand Manan Island passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, March 18, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born in Seal Cove the son of Paige and Thelma (Harvey) Cook.
Sheldon was a school teacher and taught Shop, History and Math for more than thirty three years, starting his teaching career in Canterbury, then St. George, before returning to Grand Manan where he retired from teaching. Sheldon was very community minded and served as a Counselor for the village of Seal Cove and following amalgamation the Village of Grand Manan, where he served as Deputy Mayor. He was on the museum board of directors and the transportation committee, and also won the New Brunswick Merit Award. Also he enjoyed the outdoors and trout fishing.
Sheldon's family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the wonderful staff of the ICU at the Saint John Regional Hospital who cared for Sheldon.
Sheldon is survived by his wife Shirley (Russell) Cook, one daughter Shelley (Phillip "Chubby") Brown of Grand Harbour. Two sons; Shawn (Therese) Cook of Dundas, ON, and Rev. Pat (Michelle) Cook of Cape Sable Island, NS. Seven grandchildren; Millan, Cassandra and Lance Brown; Jessica Cook; Taylor, Allen and Evan Cook. Also his brother-in-law Malcolm (Diane) Russell of Hillsborough, New Hampshire and many friends he made along life's journey.
Visiting will take place at Seal Cove Wesleyan Church from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, March 21st. The Funeral Service will be from the church on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Grand Manan Hospital Foundation, to The Grand Manan Fire Department, or to the donor’s choice.
