WILCOX, REV. WALTER C.
Rev. Walter C. Wilcox, 89, of Riverview, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, March 21, 2016. Born in Grand Manan, he was the son of the late Leland and Carrie (Schofield) Wilcox.
Walter was a member, Pastor and an Evangelist with the Church of the Nazarene. Walter was a people person, a story teller with a keen interest in heritage, our Nation and things world-wide. He put 100% into everything that he did. He worked endlessly and tirelessly to extend God’s love to everyone.
Walter will be sadly missed by his wife, Alva (Hicks) Wilcox; daughters, Sharon James (Allan) of Charlottetown, PE and Valerie Rimmer (Doug) of St. John’s, NL; son, Stephen Wilcox (Lorie Lyn) of Riverview; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Wilcox of Halifax, NS, Lydia Parker and Ella Carey (Beverly), both of Grand Manan; brother, Willis Wilcox (Thelma) of Grand Manan; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Olive (William) Wilcox (1993); sisters, Alta, Nellie and Esther; brothers, Hollis, Donald, Manson and Lester.
Viewing will be held at Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene, 2 Briggs Cross Road, Lutes Mountain on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 12:30 to 1:30, followed immediately by a Service to celebrate Walter’s life at 1:30 pm with Rev. C. Dale Thistle and Rev. Dr. Bill Stewart officiating. Reception following the service.
Remains will then be forwarded to Elmsdale, PE where a viewing will be held at Elmsdale Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, followed immediately by a Service to celebrate Walter’s life at 3:00 pm. Reception following the service. Interment will be held in Church of the Nazarene Cemetery, Elmsdale, PE. Ferguson Funeral Home, 351 Main Street, O’Leary, PE (902-859-2768) in care of arrangements on Prince Edward Island. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of local arrangements.
