MacDonald, Elmo Dale
It is with sadness that the family of Elmo Dale MacDonald of Fredericton Junction announce his passing at home on March 21, 2016. Elmo was born in Temperance Vale, NB, on December 7, 1938. He is the eldest son of Dean MacDonald and Iris (Briggs) MacDonald and loving husband of Leah MacDonald.
Elmo was a Signal Repairman for the CPR and later worked in machinery and maintenance. He was an advocate for the Oromocto Watershed Association and the Sunbury West Historical Society as well as a member of numerous community and musical groups. Most prominently, he was a musician, an instrument builder and an avid outdoors man. Elmo was always building something, cutting trails to waterfalls or bicycling on his latest invention.
He will be missed by his wife, Leah, of 57 years, daughter, Heather MacDonald, sons: David (Shawna) MacDonald, Danny (Lynn) MacDonald, three sisters: Ann (Edward) Smith, Marilyn (John) Wishart, Sheryl (David) Darrow, brother Rev. Dean (Louise) MacDonald, 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Elmo was predeceased by his granddaughter Laura Joy MacDonald and great grandson Charles Webb Conacher.
Visitation will be held in the sanctuary of the Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church, Friday March 25, 1 to 4 pm. The funeral is Saturday, March 26, at 2pm, with Rev. James Harrison officiating. Interment will be in the Gladstone Cemetery. If you wish, donations may be made in memory of Elmo to the Sunbury West Historical Society, or that you consider a charity of your choice.
