Levesque, Gerard Joseph Jacques
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Gerard (Gerry) Levesque, formerly of Fredericton, NB, on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016, at Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB. Born in Grand Falls, NB on July 1st, 1936, he was the son of the late René and Rose (Langlais) Levesque and husband of Pauline A. (Bastarache) Levesque.
After graduating from high school in Grand Falls, NB, Gerry attended the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton), graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a dedicated civil servant, and divided his working career between the New Brunswick Housing Corporation and the Department of Transportation.
He spent his free time reading, going for long daily walks, and volunteering for various causes, such as the Knights of Colombus/Chevaliers de Colomb, the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and the Veterans Health Unit. Of all his accomplishments, Gerry was most proud of his family, and was a devoted husband, a loving father, and doting grandfather.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Pauline; children Monique King (Peter) of Quispamsis, NB, Andre Levesque (Karen) of St. Stephen, NB, and Jean-Marc Levesque (Erika) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren, Leah, Renée, Hannah, Julia, and Jacob; brother John Levesque of Longeuil ,PQ, and sister JoAnn Levesque of Grand Falls, NB, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and brother, Irené Levesque.
There will be no visitation at Gerry’s request. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Ste-Anne-des-Pays-Bas, Fredericton, NB, on Wednesday, March 30th, 2016, at 12:00pm, with reception to follow. Rev. Don Savoie as celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date in the Hermitage Cemetery in Fredericton.
Gerry’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Passamaquoddy Lodge for the excellent care they have provided to him in recent years.
Gerry will always be remembered for his kind, selfless nature, and for giving of himself, in support of others. To honor him, we encourage you to give of yourselves by volunteering, or performing an act of kindness in his memory. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
