Julia Ridgill (Milsom) Cox – 92, of the Berkeley, Dartmouth, formerly of Port Williams, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, England, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ada (Dixon) Milsom. She served in the Women’s Land Army during the Second World War. She met and married Lloyd Cox, a Canadian Airman and came to Canada in 1946 as a war bride. They raised their family in Stirling Brook, Hants County, before moving to Port Williams in 1963. She enjoyed daily walks, swimming at the Acadia University pool and was an avid gardener. She is survived by her son, Chris (Susan) Cox; her daughter, Diane (Jack) Scholey; proud grandmother to Warren and Tim Cox and Nathan, Mark and Lucy Scholey and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; sisters, Betty, Dulcie and Josie; brother, Peter. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Elizabeth Johnson officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Selma United Church Cemetery, Hants County. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Her family wishes to thank the staff of the Berkeley, Dartmouth, for their exceptional care and kindness and also to her caregivers at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
