1929 - 2016
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Bertha Anita (Cormier) Couturier announces her passing on Friday April 8, 2016, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born on May 10, 1929, Bertha was the daughter of the late Émile and Lillian (LeBlanc) Cormier.
She is survived by her five children: Jean (Carmen) of Ottawa, ON, Guy (Joanne) of Dieppe, Rachelle of Riverview, Marc (Sheryl) of Nanaimo, BC, and Paul (Rayanne) of Moncton, NB; her grandchildren: Julien, Marcel, Christian, Manon, Josée, Andrew, Danielle, Myriam, Pascale, John, Stephen, Sean, and Claire as well as her great-grandchildren; her step-children: Léo (Délia) and Normand (Claudette); her sister, Edith Felde of Toronto, ON; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by husband, Claude; her second husband, Maximin Leger; one step-son, Elphège; two brothers: Edward and Eric.
Bertha was formerly employed at l’École Beauséjour and Radio Canada. She was actively involved in her church, Christ-Roi in Moncton. She loved to play bridge, watch curling, bowl and lawn bowl. She belonged to several clubs, including the Centennial and Riverview Lawn Bowling clubs and gave generously of her time to numerous charities. She was much appreciated by her wide circle of friends.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Wednesday April 13, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Thursday, April 14 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
Memorial donations may be made to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Food Depot Alimentaire or to a charity of your choice.
