Helen Allain

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beautiful Mother, Helen Evelyn Allain. Born in Campbellton, NB on January 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn Crocket.
She has one sister Ann Mann (Kirk) and family residing in Brampton Ontario. Helen raised 3 sons, Gary (Joan) from Nepean, Ontario, Michael (Nancy) from Quispamsis, New Brunswick and Stephen from Bedford, Nova Scotia; grandchildren Jeffrey (Kelly), Justin, Thomas, Marcus, as well as Nicole, Christian, Danielle, Michael and their mother Laurie Allain; and great-grandchildren Aeries and Silas.
Helen started her career as a telephone operator for NBTel in Campbellton and later transferred to Saint John.  She was an active member of the union and guided her fellow workers as Union President for a few terms. She had developed her French speaking skills through extensive training at the Memramcook Institute.
Helen was a tireless advocate and volunteer for the less fortunate. After her retirement, Helen volunteered for many years at the Red Cross.  She was widely known as a great cook and loved to have her family and friends around for those delightful meals.  She also loved knitting socks, sweaters, and mitts for her grandchildren and other children in need.
She made many friends and continued to do so even during her hospital stay.
Helen will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her dear friend Margaret Power.
