It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Lee Kaiser of Westmount on April 13, 2016, at the age of 70.
Born in Kentville, N.S., he was the son of the late Havelock and Maude (Potter) Kaiser.
Dennis grew up in Port Bickerton and attended St. Mary’s Rural High School, Sherbrook. He lived and worked as a sheet metal worker in Cape Breton for many years and retired in Westmount.
Dennis' passions in life were his family, friends and music. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed sharing his talents with his friends, family and beyond. He enjoyed the bluegrass music played with a few bands throughout his years of playing and enjoyed jamming at Alan and Sandra’s. Dennis played a variety of instruments but his love was playing the banjo. He enjoyed paying cards at home with his extended family.
He was on the CKPE FM Radio for many years, doing shows known as the Stain Glass Bluegrass on Sunday mornings and the Best of Bluegrass.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Margaret (Thompson) Kaiser; children, Tammy, Westmount, Angela (Christian Nichol), Sydney; his precious grandchildren, Ayslynn, Donavan and Samantha; one great-granddaughter, Sophia.
He is also survived by his brother, Harold (Marie), Port Bickerton; sisters, Cathy (Paul Archibald), Glennelg, Dana (Sam Moon), Dartmouth. Dennis will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David and two sisters in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2016, from 7-9 pm at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A celebration of life will be take place 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the funeral home with the Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
