WILLIS, JANIVA "JAY" ANNE FLORENCE
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Janiva (Jay) Anne Florence Willis, 33, of Charlotte, North Carolina and formerly of Irishtown, NB, on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in Hudspeth County, Texas, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
Janiva started her athletic career at the Irishtown Community Centre. She excelled in everything she did. Janiva played just about every sport there is, but she had a love for softball. Having this passion, she was a member of the Canadian Women's National Softball Team for several years. She graduated from HTHS with a softball scholarship to Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she majored in social work. Janiva became a licensed social worker with a dream to change lives for less fortunate youth. She loved the kids.
Jay was the daughter of Kathy and Allan Silvea Sr. of Irishtown and the late Joel Willis; brothers, Allan Silvea (Stephanie) and Shayne Silvea, both of Moncton, Scottie Willis of NL and sister, Nerissa Kennedy of NL; many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation to be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to Celebrate Jay’s Life will be held at Hillside Baptist Church, 2290 Mountain Road on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jerry Reddy officiating. Reception to be held at the Irishtown Community Centre immediately following the service.
