Anthony (Tony) Kaliciak age 88 years of Bracken, Saskatchewan died on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He was born at Vanguard, Saskatchewan on February 9, 1928 and was raised at Hodgeville, Saskatchewan where he received his education. Tony then worked at the Co-op in Hodgeville and for various farmers, as well as working in the bush in northern Saskatchewan. He took an electrical course at the University of Saskatchewan. He moved to Bracken, Saskatchewan to work with William and Mary Honey, later buying the farm from them and has farmed there since that time. He married Norma Honey on July 19, 1961 at Shaunavon. He served on the Co-op, School, Credit Union and Wheat Pool boards; served as an R.M. councilor, was on the Parish Council and was a member of the Snow Plow Club. He enjoyed curling and broomball in his younger years. His favorite thing was his love of driving in the evening surveying the crops. He was predeceased by his parents Pearl and Frank Kaliciak and one brother Joseph Kaliciak. He is survived by his wife Norma, his daughters Sr. Patricia Kaliciak of Edmonton, Susan Bennett (Miles) of Kenaston, Saskatchewan and grandson Greg; Dianne Oram (Kerry) of Central Butte, Saskatchewan and granddaughter Jessica Cooney (Ryan) and great grandson John, grandsons Michael Oram and Kalen Oram; his son Vern Kaliciak (Heather) and granddaughter Jyllian Kaliciak and grandsons Carter Kaliciak and Connor Kaliciak; his sisters Mary Koncohrada of Calgary, Anne Strauch of Gravelbourg and Rosemarie Hedley (Fen) of Regina, as well as by nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the R.C. Church of the Immaculate Conception at Climax, Saskatchewan with Reverend Father John Mock officiating. Jessica Cooney presented the eulogy. Interment took place at Bracken Cemetery at Bracken, Saskatchewan. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Michael Oram, Kalen Oram, Ryan Cooney, Greg Bennett, Larry Mitchell and Matthew Toeckes. Honorary pallbearers were Jyllian Kaliciak, Carter Kaliciak, Connor Kaliciak, Jessica Cooney and John Cooney.
