McCUMBER, CORA
It is with great sadness the family of Cora Lillian (Whitney) McCumber, wife of the late Arnold McCumber, announce her passing which occurred on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 1, 1935 in St. Martins where she resided for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Medley and Cora (Black) Whitney.
Cora is survived by her children Terry (Bonnie) McCumber; Cathy Pridham; Debbie (Victor) Lavigne; Gail (Kendall) Durant; and Heather (Murray) Clayton; her brother Medley Whitney Jr.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Rodney McCumber, sister Maxine Goodine, brother Fenwick Whitney, half-brothers Wallace, Herman, Charlie and Buck Mannett, grandson Travis Clayton, great granddaughter Aubrey Davey, and son in law Brent Pridham.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Keeping with Cora’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Mosher Hill Cemetery at a later date.
For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Cora may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Lakewood Headstart Association Inc., the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor’s choice.
