Kevin Gordon Brophy born in Prince Albert, SK. Sept.22, 1933 passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family April 23, 2016. Kevin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene (Noga), sons Colin Brophy (Patty), Greg Brophy (Leanne), daughter Caroline (Doug Oleksyn); grandchildren: Kevin A., Christine (Bryce) Darbyson, Cierra, Sam, Lauren, Meghan Cameron, Derek, Teagan & Aadyn; great-grandchildren, Kieran, Aiden, Jayce and Halle; his sister Madeline LaCousiere (Rene) and brother-in-law Len Noga, and all of his nieces and nephews. Kevin was predeceased by his parents Ellen (Eily) and Patrick Brophy, brothers David, Jimmy and Michael, as well as his mother and father in law Agnes (Nelly) and Anton Noga. Kevin met and married his” one and only Irene” in Saskatoon, they settled and raised their family in Prince Albert until Kevin retired from the RCMP Provost, and moved to Kelowna with Irene to enjoy their retirement years together. Over the years, Kevin had many busy projects to tend to, whether it was yard improvements or wood-working, & happiest when occupied with making things better or creating things to help. Kevin had a creative ingenuity and ability to see a need and tend to it without much fuss or bother. Kevin was a caregiver not only to property and possessions but also spent many an hour caring for and planning toward the well-being of all of his family. Family was important to Kevin and he gave generously of his time, hugs and encouragement to those sharing his life journey. Kevin lived the life of a good husband, father and friend with a grin and a whistle on his lips while he got to work getting the job done. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1346 Gordon Drive on Thursday, April 28th, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation in Kevin’s memory. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com.
