CARD, ARTHUR "ART" BERTON
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on April 27, 2016. Arthur Berton Card, husband of Nancy (Cook) Card of St. George, NB. Born in L'Etang NB on August 5 , 1928, he was a son of the late Della (Leavitt) Justason and step-son of the late Basil Justason.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Nancy he is survived by three sons: Vernon (Jill) Card of St. Stephen, NB, Greg (Angie) Card of Saint John, NB and Rod (Chrissie) Card of Quispamsis, NB; one daughter: Ramona (Perry) Stanley of Grand Manan NB; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister: Marlene Justason of Blacks Harbour, NB; one brother: James (Phyllis) Justason of Beaver Harbour, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by his first wife: Marjorie (Small) Card; father: L. Arthur Card; two sisters: Joyce Hesse and Marie Turner.
Prior to his retirement Art first worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Trynor and later Diamond Construction. Later he shifted professions and became a Sea Captain and retired from Connors Bros in Blacks Harbour were he was the Marine Railway Supervisor. When younger, Art enjoyed deer hunting and being outdoors. He loved his family and enjoyed nothing more than being a grandfather. He was a longtime member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church where he held many positions, including, head usher, Sunday School Teacher and President of the Wesleyan Men's Group. Art loved to socialize and could often be found at the local Tim Horton's or eating at various area restaurants talking to all he met.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 top 9pm. The funeral service will take place at the church on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Greg Card and Rev. H.C. Wilson officiating, followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
In Art's memory, donations to CNIB, Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
