DEWAR, EFFIE EILEEN
1930 - 2016
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Effie E. Dewar of Fredericton, NB at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
Effie was predeceased by her parents, John Robert “Bob” and Stella Mae (Carr) Stuart and one infant son, William.
She is survived by her loving husband, David of 63 years and their two sons, John Stuart (Wanda) Dewar and Peter David Dewar; grandsons, David, Dustin and Ryan; granddaughter, Ashley and great-grandchildren, Emanuele and Emilianna.
Effie’s main interest was choral singing. She was a soprano and sang with a multiple of choirs starting at the age of 14. Some of the places she sang were Fredericton, Ottawa, Oromocto, Alberta, Harvey, Germany, Sackville and Montreal. The last choirs she sang in were the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and the Fredericton Choral Society. Effie was also an accomplished seamstress; and enjoyed quilting and knitting. For some time she worked as a librarian at Harvey High School.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Individuals wishing to acknowledge Effie’s passing are invited to make a contribution to an organization of their choice in her remembrance.
