Roseanne Walsh Mason

Born In: St. Joseph de Moines
Born: January 12th, 1919

Passed in: New Waterford
Passed on: May 1st, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing at home of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Roseanne (nee Chiasson) on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
Born on Jan. 12, 1919 in St. Joseph du Moine, Roseanne was the daughter of the late Daniel Chiasson and Elise Poirier.
She was predeceased by both of her husbands, Jack Walsh and Robert Mason; her loving daughters, Rosey and Wilfredine and her loving son, Mickey Walsh and cherished son-in-law, Stewart Mossop; as well as her brothers, Alex, Leo, Arthur, Johnny, Willie, and Samuel Chiasson and her sisters, Lucy Gallant and Elizabeth Aucoin.

She is survived by her children, Joanne MacQueen (Junior), Mary Liz Mossop, Lucy Kennedy (Robert), Danny Walsh (Sue), Archie Walsh (Lynda), Eileen Murphy (Cecil), Jackie Ferdinand-Mackie (Peter); grandchildren, Chris and Tracey; Jennifer and Shauna; Kristen and Chelsea; Sean; Paul, Michael, Tanya, Trevor and Vera to whom Roseanne was affectionately known as 'Mum-Mum'; Michael, Yvonne, Larry, Archie and Timmy; Mark and Joanne; Michelle, David, Darren and Jaclyn, great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Emily, Christopher, Loagen and Matthew; Brandon, Joshua, Cody and Amelia; Nate and Kali; Sawyer; Alex and Justin; Janie and Becky; and Samantha, her sister Josephine Taylor and brother Joe Chiasson, and her special daughter in-law, Margie (Walsh) Patton.
During her 97 years in this world, Mum worked tirelessly to raise six children aging from eight years to eight months of age, a daunting task she never made look difficult and was never one to complain. She was an avid tarabish player (just ask Junior who is still not 100% convinced she didn't cheat most of the time), loved Scat with Leo and Viola (between Leo's zany stories), picked at least half a ton of berries in her lifetime until she couldn't bend to pick anymore (thanks Marie for 'picking' up the cause for her, she loved every container you brought her and how you never forgot any special occasion with a personal card!). She was the 'queen of puzzles' and there wasn't a lottery ticket she didn't love to scratch!

A service will be held at McLellan's Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500, on Wednesday, May 4th at 1 p.m. with her nephew Deacon Leo Penny officiating. A luncheon will follow at Saint Agnes Parish Hall, Convent Street. All are welcome.

The family would also like to acknowledge the dedicated and highly professional New Waterford Homecare team, the VON and palliative care specialists who took such great care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 'The Comfort Cross Fund/Memorial Fund' of St Leonard's Parish, 5310 Union Highway, River Ryan, Nova Scotia B1H 1B2 (specially carved wooden crosses for the ill to hold and comfort them in their time of illness) or to palliative care.
