Raymond Ross

Ross, Raymond Alexander – 92 of Tatamagouche, passed away May 3, 2016 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche.
Born in East Branch, he was the son of the late Alexander and American born Norma (Isaacson) Ross.
He was educated in East Branch and Halifax, specializing in secretarial, accounting and income tax preparation. Having been raised in rural Pictou County, farming became a natural occupation at an early age. A small beginning in poultry production developed into a recognized role in the pioneering of commercial poultry production in northern Nova Scotia. Following twenty years in the farming sector, he became employed with the provincial civil service for eighteen years at the managerial level.
Raymond was an active volunteer community and Church worker having served twenty-three years as chairman of the Tatamagouche Village Commission and was elected to the Colchester Municipal Council in 1997 representing North Colchester.
He had a great interest in genealogy and served several years as vice president of the Clan Baillie Association and was a forty-four year member of Liberty Lodge 120, IOOF, Tatamagouche.
In 1960 he married Harriet Brenton. They had two sons, David and Gordon (Karen), both of Tatamagouche; also surviving are grandchildren, Matthew, Chelsie (Corey) and Chelsie’s mother and brother, Bonnie and Bobby and families.
He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet; grandson, Andrew; sister, Lulu MacBain; brothers, Lawson and Glen.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 5 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche with a IOOF tribute service at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 6 in West Branch United Church with burial in West Branch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Tatamagouche Fire Department.
