Surrounded by the love of her family, Margaret Rose Mackie passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 5th 2016. Margie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and colleague. She was born on January 3, 1952 in Saint John, New Brunswick to the late Joseph and May (Gaudet) Gionet.
Margie was a genuinely kind and wonderful woman who had a heart of gold; completely selfless in helping people. She enjoyed spending time with friends, family and hanging out with the “Golden Girls” including all of their times of travelling. Margie worked as an Analyst at TD Insurance for 10 years prior to her early retirement; she was very proud and dedicated to her time there.
Margaret is survived by her loving children; Michael (Tamara) of Grand Prairie, AB and Robin Mackie of Saint John, NB. Brother, Reg (Pam) Gionet of Saint John, NB and sister, Barb (Phillippe) Martin of Saskatoon, SK. As well, three special grandchildren; Courtney, Lucian, Makayla and cherished great grandchildren, Jayce and Brynn.
In addition to her parents, Margie is predeceased by her brother, George Gionet.
The family would like to acknowledge and say thank you towards the entire staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, Dr. Brianne K. Castonguay, Linda Campbell and Betty Juliano for their care, love and compassion shown towards Margie.
Special mention to Keith Mackie and the entire Mackie family.
Margie will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Sunday, May 8th 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church (541 Milford Road) on Monday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m.
