Passed away peacefully at Lakeside Homes, Gander on Sunday, May 1st, 2016, Bridget Holland, age 87.
Predeceased by her parents Pierce and Margaret Maloney, husband Anthony, son Benny, brothers Peter, Michael, James, and sister Anne Philpott. Left to mourn with loving memories are her sons Brian (Ann-Jeanette), Barry (Bernadeth), daughter Helen (Mario), sister Cecilia Maloney, grandchildren Kristin, Jonathan, Genesta, Rebecca, Justin, Jayden, Jonathan Moore, daughter-in-law Michelle and a large circle of relatives and friends. Bridget Holland was born in 1928 in Sweet Bay, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. She left Sweet Bay at age 14 to begin working in Grand Falls prior to moving to Gander to work at the Department of Transportation Gander Terminal as a waitress. Bridget married Anthony Holland in 1955 and they resided in Gander raising three children. She later began working at the James Paton Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Bridget thoroughly enjoyed baking, crossword puzzles, gardening, knitting, walking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will forevermore be remembered by relatives and friends for her fun, loving, and kind spirit. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, May 3rd at 11:00 A.M. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations in Bridget's memory may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, 835 Topsail Road, Unit 107, Mount Pearl, NL. A1N 3J6.
