Thérèse DUBÉ

DUBÉ, Thérèse
Pictou
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Thérèse Dubé on Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 at the age of 76 years. Thérèse passed peacefully at her home in Pictou, Nova Scotia. Thérèse was born Marie Alice Thérèse Moreau on March 13th, 1940 in Rimouski, Quebec, the eldest child and only daughter of Joseph and Alberte Moreau. She spent her childhood and school years with her family in Rimouski. She also began her work years there, first in a chiropractic office and then as a switchboard operator in a local hotel. It was there that she met the love of her life, Maurice Dubé. He was a handsome sailor on leave with the Canadian Coast Guard who swept her off her feet. On December 31st, 1962 the two were married in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Thérèse left the familiarity of her family life in Rimouski to begin her married life with Maurice in Dartmouth. On August 17th, 1964 Thérèse became a Mom when they welcomed their first child Sonia. In 1965 their family moved to Point Edward, Nova Scotia and on September 25th, 1966 they welcomed their second child Paul-Maurice. Their family was now complete. In 1968, Thérèse and Maurice made their final family move to Pictou, Nova Scotia where Maurice began a new career with the Fishery Training Centre. Thérèse was a stay-at-home Mom and homemaker and how she loved being a Mom. She was a beautiful seamstress and made most of the clothes for her children. For a number of years, Thérèse was an avid contributor to the Pictou Garden Club and so enjoyed being involved. Thérèse and Maurice purchased a house in Pictou on which they worked tirelessly to make into a home. It was there she lived (surrounded by the memories of her life) until she passed. It was home to her and to her granddaughter, Céline. Thérèse was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Pierre-Paul (Pierrette) and Gilbert. Left to miss her, remember her love and carry on her memory are her children, Sonia Dubé (Stephen Brennan) and Paul Dubé (Peggy Yuen); her beloved granddaughter, Céline, and grandson, Marcus, and her brother, Gabriel (Gaby). Also left to remember Thérèse are her good friends, Harry Fraser, Juliet Campbell and Theresa Dixon. And because they were family to Thérèse, we cannot forget her four-legged loves - Sammy, Maggie and Nibbles. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 15th, 2016 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. at the McLaren Funeral Home in Pictou. A service celebrating Thérèse's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16th at Stella Maris Church in Pictou. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in her memory to the Pictou Garden Club.
