Leamon, Louis Benjamin
1945-2016 Louis

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Benjamin Louis Leamon announce his passing peacefully away on April 8 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB after a very brief illness with a rare incurable disease Acute Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born and raised in Port aux Basques, NL, he was the son of the late Abraham and Ellen (Anderson) Leamon. Louis is survived by his wife Michele (Gouthro) Dartmouth, daughter Karen Briand Halifax step son Jeff (Erin) Alberta, step granddaughters Ainsley, Callan and Reese, sister Elsie Legge, Winnipeg, brothers Abe and Hubert (Alice) of Port aux Basques, NL as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving, his first wife Paulette (Cleveland) mothers in law Marjorie Gouthro and Betty Zinck. Louis was also predeceased by sister Lavenia, brother Cecil, sister in law Gladys, fathers in law Michael Gouthro and Arch Zinck. Louis spent most of his working career in the construction industry (painting, plaster repair and taping) but there was no trade he wouldn't tackle and with great success. Louis worked up until a few months before he passed away and also enjoyed tinkering and experimenting in his garage. His favorite pass time was playing lead guitar. He felt very blessed that he was able to winter in Mexico for the last eighteen years. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life took place at A L Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St, Dartmouth on May 24 at 3 p.m. Reception to follow. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice. Internment will take place in Port aux Basques, NL at a later date. Special thanks to Dr. Solomon and staff at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg as well as Glen Lawn Funeral Home, Winnipeg where cremation took place. Also a very special thank you to companion Flo LeDrew and nephew Gary Legge, both of Winnipeg who were at Louis's hospital bedside to the very end.
