Jean Somers

SOMERS, JEAN ANDERSON
Jean A. Somers, 90, of McNair Manor and formerly of Downsview Ave., with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, May 16, 2016. Born in Chatham, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (MacLaughlin) Blakely.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and sister. A long time active member of Lewisville Baptist Church, she was a Dominion Life Member of the WMS, former choir member, former member of the Refreshment Committee and former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of The Gideon’s. She was an excellent cook, an avid knitter and enjoyed socializing with her friends and spending time with her family.
Jean will be sadly missed by her husband of over 69 years, Edward “Ed” Somers; children, Elizabeth “Betty” Somers, Charles Somers (Susan), Dale Somers (Wendy), Susan Walsh (Bob) and John Somers, all of Moncton; grandchildren, Tammy Clement (Marc), Jeff Somers (Andrea), Jillian Somers and Lauren Wilson (Tommy); great-grandchildren, Ashley, Dan, Brandon, Rowan, Avery and Alice; great-great-granddaughter, Kinsley. Jean was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Stella and Peggy and brothers, Earl and Jack.
Visiting hours at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at Lewisville Baptist Church (109 Pleasant St.) on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon MacLeod officiating. Reception following the service. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.
In Jean’s memory, donations to the Lewisville Baptist Church Building Fund, The Gideon’s or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
