Dwight Scott

SCOTT, DWIGHT GEORGE
1941 - 2016
Dwight George Scott, age 74, of Riverview, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Born on September 12, 1941, in Shawinigan, Quebec, he was the son of the late George Fraser Scott and Grace Mary (d’Albenas) Scott.
Dwight’s interest in Engineering led to a teaching career at the University of New Brunswick from 1964-2001, which, at various times, also included being Director of Undergraduate Studies within the Faculty of Engineering, and Dean of Residence.
Dwight volunteered for a number of organizations, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Canadian Automobile Sports Club, the Canadian Mental Health Association and Forest Dale Nursing Home. Especially since his retirement, Dwight enjoyed being able to expand his activities with ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers – NB/PEI Chapter. He enjoyed his music and volunteered at the Riverview Arts Centre as well as attending various musical concerts and festivals. But most of all, he enjoyed his family and looked forward to the reunions which usually happened every couple of years.
Dwight will be sadly missed by his wife, Val Chongva; his two sons, David (Heather) of Fredericton, and Darrell of Calgary, Alberta; his two precious grandchildren, Tyler and Rachel; sister, Carol Scott of Ottawa, Ontario; brother Peter (Barb) of Windsor, Ontario; plus nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be missed by his special little brother, Bill Adams, as well as by Val’s family.
A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held on Sunday, May 29, at 3pm at Central United Church, 150 Queen Street, Moncton, with the Rev. Dr. James MacDonald officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, Ontario, in the Frederick G. Scott family plot.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central United Church or a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Peritoneal Dialysis Clinic, Unit 4F, and the surgical intensive care unit at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for their incredible care and compassion.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H-3K2 (506) 734-2780 www.albertcountyfh.com
