STEEVES, H. MADGE
H. Madge Steeves, 95, of Canterbury Hall, Riverview and formerly of Weldon Street, Moncton and Hillsborough Road, Riverview, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Born in Pilley’s Island, NL, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mildred (Alcock) Poole. She immigrated to Canada from Newfoundland as a war bride in 1945. Madge was a retired nurse and attended Gunningsville Baptist Church. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, a member of the Happy Gang seniors church fellowship group, a former Sunday School teacher, had been a very active Social Committee member, Pioneer Girls leader and member of various boards and committees throughout the years. Her passion was her faith in Jesus Christ, as well as adoring her family.
Madge was predeceased by her husband, Curtis E. Steeves, and will be sadly missed by her daughters and sons; Heather (Karen Turner) of Toronto, Christopher of Riverview, Pamela of Winnipeg, Susan White (John) of Riverview, and Randolph of Riverview; grandchildren, Chris, Adam, Connie-Elizabeth, Amy, Kurt, Nicholas, Keith and Maureen, numerous great grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Among her cousins, Dr. Cyril (Jean) of Sackville and Ed (Marlene) of Victoria were especially dear to her heart. Madge was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Shannex staff of Royal Court and Canterbury Hall for their warmth and caring for our mother.
Visitation is at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Monday 2 to 4 PM and from 7 to 9 PM. A Service to celebrate Madge’s life will be held at Gunningsville Baptist Church, 160 Old Coach Road, Riverview, NB, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at 10:30 AM with Rev. V.R. Blair Holden officiating. Reception following the service. Interment will be held in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
In memory of Madge, donations to Gunningsville Baptist Church or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
