Harry Wynberg

WYNBERG, HARRY J.
1930 - 2016
It is with profound sadness that we, his children, announce the passing of our beloved father, Harry John Wynberg (Hendrikus Johannes Wijnberg), 86, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at The Moncton Hospital. He resided in Irishtown. Born March 4, 1930 in Twello, Holland, he was the son of the late Bernardus (1984) and Henrica (1986) (Woerdman) Wijnberg.
Harry married the love of his life, Ann, in 1952, when together they migrated to Canada to build their lives and family.
Original founder, owner-operator of Wynberg Landscaping Ltd. and Dutch Nursery until his retirement, many of his customers thanked him for decades later, in helping them choose and care for their plants. Many of them felt they would not have succeeded without his impeccable knowledge and patience in explaining to them on how to plant and maintain their purchases.
Harry Sr. was a proud, reliable, courageous man who took great pride in keeping his word, and a hand shake meant something. He loved being busy and hated the toll age and illness had on his capacity to do what he wanted. Besides gardening, he enjoyed wood working and travelling with his wife. Although he hated commercials, he loved watching curling, tennis, hockey and the Toronto Blue Jays.
He leaves to mourn his six children: Anneke and Debby (Paul Surette), both of Irishtown; Peter (Denise), Gerard (Paulette) and Harry (Bella), all of Moncton, and Ben of Alberta; 10 grandchildren: Dwayne, Derek, Terry, Jeffrey, Randy, Craig, Natalie, Nicole, Joe, and Jenn; several great-grandchildren; two sisters: Annie and Maria (Hendrikus); two brothers: Josephus and Bernardus (Magda), all of Holland; many nieces and nephews.
Harry is also predeceased by his wife, Ann née Leijgraaf (2011); his sisters: Fien (2002) and Dina (2012); his brothers: Jan (1991) and Wim (1990).
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church, 2340 Route 115, Irishtown, on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 11 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
In memory of Harry, a contribution to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
