1943-2016
Bob Yakubchuk passed away peacefully on Friday May 20, 2016 at Victoria Hospital. Bob leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 50 years Jana, daughters: Tanya (Kelly) Toporowski and their children Melissa (Ryan Bressers) and Steven; Karen (Stan) Breiter and their sons Jared, Evan and Cameron and Darcy (Kenneth) McCarter: siblings Sandra (Larry) Bodnar, Terry Yakubchuk and Livia Yakubchuk: nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Ron Warin and mother-in-law Laura Silverton. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, Bill and Julia Yakubchuk, sister Sylvia Shmon and brother-In-law Doug. Shmon. Bob was born February 4th 1943 in Prince Albert, SK. After graduating from the RCMP Training Academy in 1963 he was posted to Ottawa Ontario, and then served in British Columbia before returning to Saskatchewan where he retired in 1989. After retirement, Bob then worked for the Prince Albert Rural School Division and Shore Gold along with farming. Bob loved to play hockey, playing on many RCMP teams and made many special friends through his playing days especially his Silver Foxes. Many winter weeks were spent in the Mesa Arizona sunshine; trips that often coincided with baseball’s spring training season. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel 575-28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 25,2016 at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, 684-3rd Avenue East Prince Albert SK with Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday May 26, 2016 at the RCMP Cemetery Depot Division Regina SK. In lieu of other tributes donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
