BARBOUR, SOLIE LORENA
1924 - 2016
Solie Lorena Barbour, 91, of Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Solie ws born in Harvey on August 1st, 1924, the daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Douthwright) Beck.
Solie was a faithful member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She worked at the Moncton Hospital and Riverside- Albert Hospital for many years as a Registered Nursing Assistant. She was a member of the CWL, Friendship Senior Citizens, was a volunteer at Forest Dale Home. Solie enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening and her favorite pass time of Bingo. Her family were very important to her and she would light up whenever her grandchildren came around. Solie had a very caring and loving way about her. She will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Marlene Barbour (Gerry) of Moncton, Charlotte Barbour of St. John's NFDL and Shirley Barbour of Riverside-Albert; son, Bobby Barbour of Riverside-Albert; her seven treasured grandchildren, Virginia, Bobbi-Jo, Angela, Dana, Melissa, Tanya and Mandy; twelve great-grandchildren, Katrina, Jacob, Samantha, Colby, Chelsey, Andrew, Marrisa, Connor, Jennica, Jakeobe, Dawson and Carter and four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Treva Muise of Riverview; brothers, Stancey Beck of Beaverbrook, Raymond Beck of ON and Cecil Beck of Riverside-Albert; sister-in-law Greta Beck of Riverside-Albert and brother-in-law, Weldon Barbour of Petitcodiac. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Cecil Barbour; infant son, Charles, infant grandsons, John and Eugene; sister, Teresa Kenney-Mercer ; brothers, Howard, Louis, Clement and Ervin; sister-in-law, Jessie Dixon.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Parish Prayers and a time of sharing will be held in the evening from 8:30 til 9:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 31st, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB.
