Jean Milton

MILTON, JEAN MAE
1929 ‑ 2016
Jean passed away suddenly at her residence on May 29, 2016 with her family by her side at age 86. Predeceased by Dana Milton; her husband of 60 years; in 2012 and her brother Dean Berryman in 1961, Jean was the daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Duffy) Berryman.

She was born in Shenstone and graduated from Hillsborough Superior School then the New Brunswick Teacher’s College. She taught at several schools in the area, including Albert Mines, Humphrey, Riverview, Hillsborough and Lower Coverdale. She also taught in the one room school house in Goshen and Curryville. However, after teaching nearly twelve years, she chose to retire and raise her beloved children. When the last one entered school, she then went back to teaching on a part‑time basis for a number of years.

Jean attended the Weldon Baptist Church, was a Dominion Life member and president of the Weldon Women’s Missionary Society. She was very involved in church activities, helping wherever needed.

A loving, supportive mother and grandmother; she enjoyed snowmobiling with her husband and friends as well as playing golf. She was also an avid craftsperson, knitting many sweaters, making quilts, hooking mats, sewing clothes and household items. She cooked fabulous meals as well as baking a variety of pies, cookies and cakes. You could guarantee every year her delicious divinity fudge would be a hit on Halloween.

Jean is survived by her sons Dana Lyle Milton and wife Pam of Weldon, Leslie Alen and Karla Claridge with beloved granddaughter Bethany Milton‑Claridge of Albert Mines, daughter Lisa Sheri of Weldon, step‑daughter Shirley Steeves of Hillsborough and step‑grandson Gregory Steeves of Dieppe.

Visitation will take place from Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869‑2007) on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will take place from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00am with Rev. Jack Allen and Pastor Blaine Steeves officiating. A private interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
