Mary Genevieve Slade

Passed peacefully away with her family at the PCU of the Miller Centre on May 29, 2016. Mary Genevieve Slade (nee English) was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a gifted teacher. She retired home to St John's in 2012 after many years in Toronto, following the death of her husband Roy Slade. Her daughter Krista and son Mark (Prachayawan), granddaughters Kate and Sonya will miss their Nana. Mary was predeceased by her parents William & Bernadette English and her brother Bill (Janice), all of St John's. Her sister Maureen (Ray) Treat lives in the US. She leaves to mourn many friends (especially Margaret & Richard Adams), sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her canine companions Teddy and Anderson will miss her many treats. She was a proud graduate of Memorial who started her teaching career in Port Royal, Placentia Bay where she met our dear dad. Mary was a born traveler who enjoyed many adventures and loved nothing more than planning the next one. The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion in her final days. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private memorial this summer.
