Frederick Charles "Fred" Fraser

Frederick Charles Fraser, 69, Central West River passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with his family at his side.
Born in New Glasgow, Fred was a son of Viola (Kehoe) Fraser of New Glasgow and the late Earle Fraser.
With his families consent, Fred joined the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 16, serving for a total of 43 years in both the Navy and Air Force combined. By the time of his retirement, he had achieved the rank of Captain, having served as an AES OP on the Argus and Aurora aircrafts. He had flown more hours on the Argus than any other AES OP, and so was awarded an honorary seat on the final flight of the Argus.
After his retirement from the Air Force, Fred served in the Corps of Commissionaires as a dispatcher at the Stellarton Police Station. He was also a retired commanding officer for the 397 Air Cadet Squadron, Trenton. Fred volunteered as a fireman and medical first responder with the West River Fire Department. As well, he was a figure skating judge with Skate Canada. His down time was playing the guitar, watching the news and being a jack of all trades.
Fred is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Fran (Reim); daughter Amy, Central West River; son Charlie (Moe), Enfield; and his pride and joys his grandchildren, Nathan, Nic, and Hayley. He is also survived by sisters Sandra Ryan, Yarmouth; Dorothy Mitchell (Jim), Ontario; Margie MacDonald (Brian), Westville; brother James, New Glasgow; and in-laws; Butch Reim (Elizabeth), Sylvester; Wenda Hay (Larry), Westville; Sharon Whytewood-Holliday (Lindsay), Alma; Marilyn St.Amand, Ontario and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his mother-in-law "Curly" (Nita) Reim, father-in-law Wentzell Reim and his sister Gayle Douglas.
Fred is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a tribute service at 6:45p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. from Eagles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in Mount William Cemetery.
