John 'Jackie' LeRoy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, John ‘Jackie' LeRoy who passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on June 3, 2016, at the age of 57.
Born in North Sydney on Jan. 13, 1959, he was the son of the late Donald Patrick LeRoy and Emmaline LeRoy (nee Slade).
Jackie was an active member of the Salvation Army. In his earlier years Jackie was a fisherman. He enjoyed many years fishing with his lifelong friend Capt. Randolph Le Frense. For the last 22 years he was employed as a labourer with local 92 in Fort McMurray, where he met friends from far and wide. Jackie will always be remembered for his kindness and selflessness, always putting others first.
Jackie is survived by his common-law wife of 35 years, Peggy Marsh; five sisters, Margaret (Cyril) Keeping, Glenda LeRoy, Lynn (Brian) Howell, Sherry (John) Liang and Lisa (Dave) Robertson; three brothers, Darryl (Pam), Sheldon and Ray (Ashley Musgrave) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and grandparents, Jackie was predeceased by his only son Zachary Logan LeRoy, two brothers Kenneth James McKenzie and Donald Wayne LeRoy, niece (Theresa Howell) and a nephew (Shane McKenzie) both in infancy.
Jackie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A wake will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 2-4 and then 7-9 p.m. at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home for friends and family to pay their respects and meet with family. Cremation will take place following the wake. There will be no service.
