Jean Mytruk

The death of Jean E. Mytruk occurred on June 11, 2016 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in 1928, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Blanche (Sanger) Fillmore.
She attended school in Amherst and was a graduate of the St. Charles Commercial School.
In her younger years, she was active in sports, especially basketball, both in school and also in the Amherst Town League.
She was employed for twenty-six years with the NS Power Corp, both in Amherst and Halifax, retiring in 1991.
Jean was a member of First Baptist Church in Amherst.
Jean is survived by her sons, Kim (Christine Manuge) DeLong, Amherst, and Kevin (Wendy) DeLong, of Dartmouth, NS; her two granddaughters, Kayla (Neil) Lowry, and Kelsie (Michael) Espiritu; a great granddaughter, Dorothy Lowry, of Calgary; a brother, Bruce, of Daytona Beach, Florida, and a sister, Betty DeLong, of Amherst, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Henry DeLong, her second husband, Frank Blaquiere, and her third husband, Victor Mytruk; her sister Pearl Cormier, and her niece Ruth Grant.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Amherst with the Reverend Byron Corkum and Reverend Donald Miller officiating and Mr. Danny Walker, soloist. Interment to follow in the family plot in the Amherst Cemetery.
Jean wishes for family flowers only, please. Donations in her memory may be made to the VON, The Canadian Red Cross, Palliative Care of The Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, The Diabetes Education Centre or a charity of the donor's choice.
