It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Hammond, 693 Beechmont Rd., at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on June 17, 2016.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John Patrick and Rosalie Elizabeth (Martin) McGuigan.
Patricia was a devoted wife, stepmother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her husband, William ‘Bill’ Hammond; stepchildren, Jennifer, Jason and Jamie Hammond; grandchildren, Jaxson, Leah, Hailey and Miah. Patricia is also survived by her sisters, Nellie Cremo, Sharon Miller, Elaine Barnaby, Bernadette McGuigan, Teresa MacDonald, Louise McGuigan; brothers, John, Maynard and Lester McGuigan; godchildren, Cheryl Smith, Rosalieann McGuigan, Kyler Saunders and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents and her first husband, Daniel ‘Danny’ MacDonald. She was a longtime employee of Canada Employment Center. Patricia believed in angels and had a large collection. She endured many challenges through her illness and faced them with great courage. Her determination, and love of life, was an inspiration to all. She will be remembered for her love of music, crafts and enjoying outdoor activities. Patricia was loved by many and will be dearly missed. 

Visitation for Patricia will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 12-2 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Frenchvale.
